Sailing to windward in a strong breeze.
With the mainsail reefed and a small jib (red-ish color here), we had a fantastic day of sailing from Sidney, BC to our favorite tiny, secluded and usually deserted anchorage in the Discovery Islands.
Our new wire standing rig survived this test. The mast is still upright.
Able excels in strong winds and seas like this, relative to modern, light, fat boats. We were gaining on a much bigger modern boat a mile-or-so upwind. They would beat us in light winds, probably , but few cruising sailors know how to make their boat do it's best.
